LegalEdge was founded in 1989 by David Kedson, a Philadelphia attorney and software developer and Michael Levinson, a Philadelphia businessman. They developed, for a mutual friend and attorney, what is now believed to be the first case management software available in the marketplace. The company grew to be one of the fastest growing privately held companies in the Delaware Valley with a national customer base of mostly large law firms and fortune 2000 legal departments.

Through the years the company has expanded into government systems, becoming a leading supplier to cities, counties, agencies, prosecutors and defense organizations.

Today, LegalEdge Software continues to be the market leader in Legal systems. The company has case management products for corporate, law firms, criminal, and governmental agencies in both Windows 32 bit as well as browser-based platforms.
