Customization Options

LegalEdge distinguishes itself from other matter management systems through its extensive ability to customize! We have more customization options and tools than any of our competitors. The options available within LegalEdge provide the additional framework that will allow for fine-tuning and ensure fulfillment of all your needs.

LegalEdge's Custom Applications Group was created to provide clients with the following services:

• Customization of necessary features for any of the existing programs
• Data migration of existing information from legacy databases
• Creation of 3rd party interfaces to other software programs

In addition, clients may choose to perform customization of the software themselves. To assist with this task the following Toolkits can be purchased with the software:

Level 1 - Standard Customization Features

Level 1 customization includes a wide array of setup options, such as:

Toolbar Control - Toolbar Control gives the ability to create new toolbars and change all features of existing toolbars except the position of the toolbar.

Window Control - Window Control gives the ability to change the title bar, position, colors, and assign various workflows to be triggered by actions of the window.

Field Control - Field Control gives the ability to change the label, default value, help text, the position of a help box, making a field required, forcing upper case, making a field read-only. Additionally, the ability to assign windows to open by clicking a hypertext arrow and assigning workflows to run when a field value is changed is available in the C-1 Standard Toolkit.

Level 2 - Customization Toolkit

The Toolkit gives the Systems Administrator a comprehensive set of tools and capabilities to enhance, modify, expand and otherwise tailor the software to a unique installation. These are many of the same tools developed for our Project Managers to install and customize the software for our customers. The Toolkit is for customers who want control over installation and customization, but do not want to have full responsibility for support. LegalEdge continues to provide support for end users of the Toolkit. The kit provides the following:

Window Control - Window Control gives the ability to add, delete or move fields within certain constraints; to change the height of the window, to enable or disable the ability to add a record, delete a record, or link the current record to another record. There is also the ability to make the window read-only, determine whether the field is outlined and whether the field has shallow bevels or deep bevels, force the window to unload after saving a record, and almost complete control over the functionality of the window grid (the only function that cannot be controlled is the ability to create new queries to be used in the window grid.)

Field on Windows Control - Field on Windows Control gives the ability to control the format of the data (text, date, number, etc.), the lookup list that appears when you click the search arrow, the way the field verifies and validates data, add a search arrow to a field, and to use tabs.

Level 3 - Programmer's Kit

The Programmer's Toolkit is for customers who want to completely control the design customization and installation process. For customers who would consider buying source code, this toolkit provides almost the same power at a fraction of the cost of a source code license. With this toolkit - the same Toolkit used by LegalEdge's Custom Applications Group - customers receive everything in the C-2 Customization Toolkit in addition to having the ability to modify the software any way they choose.
The kit provides the ability:

• To create an unlimited number of new windows and control all window characteristics
• To create ad-hoc queries and editable data grids
• To develop workflows (automated processes) and logic chains (macro-like programs)
• To create review sheets and drill down windows

With the Programmer's Kit, accounts take on responsibility for supporting their own end users; however, a support package is available, which gives the customers' programmers access to LegalEdge developers.

Query Writing for Reporting (Optional)

The queries and report writer module gives the ability to create queries that can be displayed as grids, graphs, or reports. It also provides the ability to interface with certain external report writers, such as Crystal Reports.
